Eden Prize General Information

The Eden Prize is an essay writing competition open to South Australian public school students in Year 10.

It has a $1250 top prize!

The official website is here: https://www.education.sa.gov.au/edenschoolprize

2020 Topic

Visit the page for 2020’s Topic is “How can technology make the world a better and happier place to live?”

Important information

The competition is judged on:

  1. breadth of thought on the topic
  2. originality of thought
  3. relevance of the response to the question
  4. reference to current issues
  5. communication skills.

Successful entries show original ideas and make connections to the real world. They show depth in research and a clear argument. I’ve noticed that the judges also like a bit of style to the writing; metaphors and analogies help a lot.
